"The Great Illusion" Original Art Piece
Low stock: 1 left
Original art piece from the "The Great Illusion" short story.
This story explores the weight of expectations through the beginning of a friendship between a king and a thief. The king feels unbearable pressure from the expectation to be great, while the thief became one because he was expected to be deceitful. Expectation, not personal desire, shaped the lifestyle and way of being for these animals.
“I find you hiding here again, my king. Have you grown fond of this decrepit diner?”
“Greatness is debilitating, Weasel. I have come here to rest.
Nobility is deemed to be the utmost privilege, but maintaining perfection is exhausting.
I was crowned king due to my large, grand feathers, but they were only meant for display. They create a spectacle, but they offer no real ability. They are too heavy to maintain flight. I live behind a façade, and I worry that I may not be as grand as they would like to believe.
This diner may seem decrepit, but to me, it is a place of refuge. It is a place where perfection is not expected of me. The animal kingdom has crowned me and made me their god, but in reality, I am far from divine.”
